THE CURE FOR THE COMMON COLD?
09.09.01 - Press Release
(Vancouver, September 1, 2009) – SISU Inc, a leading manufacturer of premium vitamins and supplements in Canada, is pleased to announce the launch of three revolutionary, all-natural immune health products containing the patented ingredient Wellmune WGP®: SISU Healthmune™, Coldmune™ and Stressmune™.
Now available in Canada, Wellmune WGP® is a new natural ingredient derived from a proprietary strain of yeast grown on sugarcane in the USA. It primes key immune cells to respond more quickly and completely to the presence of disease-causing organisms, resulting in fewer cold and flu infections, less time off sick and improved overall health. Wellmune WGP® can be taken preventively or when others around you are getting sick.
"We are thrilled to be the first to launch Wellmune in supplements in Canadian natural health stores," says Jaime Williams, Director of Marketing at SISU. "Biothera, the Immune Health Company, has invested more than $250 million into research and development for Wellmune – it is clinically proven to reduce colds and flu in healthy adults under stress. This product fits perfectly into our immune health product line because it’s proven safe and effective – and who doesn’t want the cure for common colds and the flu?"
Modern day threats such as emerging pandemic viruses, rapid world travel, anti-biotic-resistant germs and radiation make it increasingly more important to ensure your body has a strong immune system. A properly supported and primed immune system is ready to quickly meet the next health challenge we encounter. Because our diet and environment no longer provide the natural immune stimulants necessary for optimal immune health and function, supplementing with Wellmune WGP® fulfills this need safely and effectively.

09.09.01 Media Fact Sheet
What is Wellmune WGP®?
Wellmune WGP® is a revolutionary immune health supplement derived from a proprietary strain of yeast grown on sugar cane in the United States. It is the result of 250 million dollars and many years of research. Wellmune WGP® is a unique, GMO free gluco polysaccharide extract standardized to beta glucans and clinically proven to prime the immune system and reduce cold and flu infections in healthy adults under stress.
How does Wellmune WGP® work?
Wellmune WGP® stimulates key cells of the innate immune system (neutrophils) to more rapidly and completely eliminate foreign pathogens (bacteria, viruses, etc.) including the body’s own cells that have become damaged and need to be cleaned up. Without these polysaccharides, which in past generations used to be ingested when our ancestors ate food contaminated with yeast and fungi, the immune system reacts much more slowly, so we get more sick more often. Visit www.wellmune.com for clinical research study information.
How is Wellmune WGP® different from the polysaccharides and beta glucans from other plant sources?
Each source of beta glucans and polysaccharides has different clinical effects. Oat beta glucans for example, help lower bad cholesterol. The immune effects of the beta glucans in mushrooms like Shiitake or Reishi or the polysaccharides in Echinacea have been compared in laboratory studies to Wellmune WGP® and none of the compounds tested were close to being as effective as Wellmune WGP® beta glucans. SISU is the only vitamin and supplement manufacturer in Canada that has this unique gluco polysaccharide extract in their three new immune health products.
Why do I need to take a supplement to support my immune system?
Our immune system is what keeps us healthy and protects us from bacteria, viruses and other disease-causing organisms. It also helps stop the spread of cells affected by cancer. We have weaker and less effective immune systems than our ancestors did, in part because our over-sterile modern lives, including the misuse of prescription antibiotics, antibiotic soaps and irradiated and preservative-laden foods, have left our immune systems with nothing to do most of the time so they become weak.
Modern day threats such as emerging pandemic viruses, rapid world travel, anti-biotic-resistant germs and radiation make it increasingly more important to ensure your body has a strong immune system. Just as muscles need to be exercised to become strong and the mind needs to be challenged to stay sharp, the immune system needs support and stimulation to become and stay robust and resilient. A properly supported and primed immune system is ready to quickly meet the next health challenge we encounter. Because our diet and environment no longer provide the natural immune stimulants necessary for optimal immune health and function, supplementing with Wellmune WGP® fulfills this need safely and effectively.
How often do I need to take Wellmune WGP®?
The most significant immune supporting effects of Wellmune WGP® last 24 to 36 hours. This long-lasting effect means that taking it once a day is enough. One capsule each morning primes your immune system all day long. Larger individuals or those with the highest levels of stress may find that two capsules (taken together) work better for them. Both doses were proven effective in the human research.
How long can I take Wellmune WGP®? Does the product’s effectiveness diminish over time? Can my immune system become habituated to Wellmune WGP®?
Beta glucans from yeast have been a part of the human diet for many thousands of years. Only in the last few decades have modern food processing and antibiotics largely removed them from our diet. Beta glucans are safe and beneficial to consume every day over the long term. Research over a three month period has shown Wellmune WGP® to be safe and effective. The effectiveness does not diminish over time and your immune system does not become habituated.
Which SISU Wellmune WGP® formula should I take?
SISU Healthmune with Wellmune WGP® is useful for anyone who already takes vitamin C and already takes stress products separately (or doesn’t need them) and just needs to add additional immune support to reduce sickness during cold and flu season. SISU Coldmune™ is a combination of Wellmune WGP® and Ester-C® vitamin C and is formulated for people who want the convenience of both ingredients in one product. Coldmune™ is a simple, one-a-day solution to cold and flu prevention. SISU Stressmune™ is a combination of Wellmune WGP® and a high potency Rhodiola extract, which is clinically proven to reduce the mental and physical effects of stress on the body. Stressmune™ is formulated for people under stress who want to support their immune system and boost their energy and mood.
